A TERRIBLE THING IS HAPPENING

reference books detailing myths and legends stolen from libraries...
wikipedia pages wiped clean from the face of the internet...
ancient stained glass windows smashed and destroyed...
historical research centers burnt to the ground...

Someone out there is trying very, very hard to erase all of the possible sources of power and belief of the ancient gods and goddesses. And it hurts. Whilst the powers of the minders are unharmed by the attacks, the gods and goddesses will be certainly feeling the toll: it's now painfully clear that even the simplest of miracles are now becoming almost impossible to perform.

deities, you had better have gifted your minders with some decent blessings! Because now you're going to rely on them more than ever. Someone is out to get you.

ACTION

[ He usually doesn't go far and, in this circumstance, physically can't. Beyond the pain that occasionally seizes his body, he finds himself chained by a certain proximity to his masters, unable to wholly recall what he was before he took the body of a young man.

It's debilitating to say the least. He paces, restlessly, by her side.

[ It hurts her, to see him like this -- trapped in a form they made him take, pacing like a dog in a cage when he can't remember that he's ever been a dog. ]

Come here, Cerberus.

[ She wants to soothe, wants to run her fingers through his hair. She'll lie to him if she must, tell him that everything will be okay without actually knowing if it's true. ]

[ He may no longer remember the hound he was, but something fundamental to his very existence tells him that when Persephone speaks, he is to listen and to obey. That obedience is at Cerberus' very core and so, it will be the very last thing that leaves him. He stops with his pacing, his hands clenched to white-knuckle fists at both sides, but does not come straight away, afraid that in his anger he will lash out her and hate himself all the more.

When he finally does move to Persephone's side, Cerberus does not sit beside her but, rather, at her feet. He looks up at her with dark blue eyes (blue, a boy's eyes, not black like the hound's).
]

I'm useless here.

[ More than anything, she wishes that he could take his form back. If they are to suffer like this, he should suffer as he is -- a proud hound, bravest and beautiful. She waits for him to come to her, and when he sits, leans forward (ignoring how much she doesn't want to) in order to slide her fingers through his hair. ]

For the moment, we all are.

[ Blue eyes, beautiful in their own way but wrong. Persephone shuts hers for a moment. ]

Tell me what you remember.
