IC: EVENT
A TERRIBLE THING IS HAPPENING
reference books detailing myths and legends stolen from libraries...
wikipedia pages wiped clean from the face of the internet...
ancient stained glass windows smashed and destroyed...
historical research centers burnt to the ground...
Someone out there is trying very, very hard to erase all of the possible sources of power and belief of the ancient gods and goddesses. And it hurts. Whilst the powers of the minders are unharmed by the attacks, the gods and goddesses will be certainly feeling the toll: it's now painfully clear that even the simplest of miracles are now becoming almost impossible to perform.
deities, you had better have gifted your minders with some decent blessings! Because now you're going to rely on them more than ever. Someone is out to get you.

'There ain't no rest for the wicked' as Cage The Elephant so casually sang. Nor would there be for he or any of the good that was left.
He isn't one to show his weakness. He is never one to give in, yet for a moment, it's all he can do to steel himself for the long night ahead.

"Obtain for us the grace of true repentance and conversion of heart that we may be spared of the punishment we deserve. Offer our prayers to God in our search for true peace and happiness founded on truth and justice. We pray for those who are suffering of inhumanities, dying because of injustice and the oppressed due to manipulation and exploitation. We also pray for our less fortunate brothers and ourselves. Present to God the Father all our petitions through Jesus Christ our Lord together with the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen."
It's after she finishes, after the silence ringing in her ears following the conclusion that she realizes that people are still doing their jobs. And it's time she went back to hers. She has something to do with her hands now and braces them on the front of Uriel's shoulders to look at him square in the eye.
"People believe in you, even if a dopey guy in a weird hat doesn't count you." A quick pat to his right before she nods, biting on her bottom lip.
"You'll be fine."

"Telling an angel to have faith?" He glances down at the charred old testament in his hands. "So optimistic, my Eden."
Cryptic affection, low enough just for her to hear. He knows she likes to hear things straight, but sometimes it is effortless to ruffle her feathers.
It shows there's a little light in him yet.
He musters up that strength and rolls his shoulders, as if the flex in those muscles will brace away the occasional shiver. Back to being a team leader.
"I want our arson specialist on this and a time of origin for the fire in an hour. Once the basement levels have been cleared, we're out. There's a boardroom full of superiors with itchy palms, all looking for something to say to the press."
He tucks the charred bible in his standard-issue bulletproof vest. "Anything salvageable goes in the van. Bag it, tag it, call it evidence. It'll be safer there." Then, one last question. "Heard from Magda?"

"Yessir." She mutters it, dutiful as ever and starts to walk away to make these things happen when he mentions Magda and Eden shrugs helpfully.
"No. I take it you haven't either?"

He knows it's not the best thing to go contacting an undercover cop, but desperate times. They can't not talk to their apprentice minder. If anything, this is what she needs to see. They've been preparing her for this. She's not prepared enough, but it doesn't matter. They're going to need her anyway.
"We need to get her in."
