A TERRIBLE THING IS HAPPENING

reference books detailing myths and legends stolen from libraries...
wikipedia pages wiped clean from the face of the internet...
ancient stained glass windows smashed and destroyed...
historical research centers burnt to the ground...

Someone out there is trying very, very hard to erase all of the possible sources of power and belief of the ancient gods and goddesses. And it hurts. Whilst the powers of the minders are unharmed by the attacks, the gods and goddesses will be certainly feeling the toll: it's now painfully clear that even the simplest of miracles are now becoming almost impossible to perform.

deities, you had better have gifted your minders with some decent blessings! Because now you're going to rely on them more than ever. Someone is out to get you.

Now Gabriel, dearest, don't be paranoid. Let's all think this through before we start pointing fingers or swinging swords or what-have-you, shall we? Even without knowing what I know, you know very well that they all have rather as much to lose as we do if it all falls apart.

Oh dear, I sound awfully bossy, don't I? Well, anyway, you understand what I mean, you're all terribly clever and I hope you're well.

And I'm very sorry, but I don't believe that I shall be of much help with this. Though I'm certain I've recorded the secret of it somewhere, I'm having difficulty recalling anything at all right now, and I believe that Cary might very well tie me up so that I can't move if I don't sit still. (He can be quite terrifying. Can't you, Cary?)

Raziel. This is not paranoia, it's syllogism. Think on it – the greatest accomplishment that they could possibly achieve would be the destruction of faith. Although right now this may hurt them as much as it hurts us, surely they stand to gain in the long run. I find it hard to believe that this is not a Satanic directive. And right now I do not think I have the inner strength to be able trust their word were they to claim otherwise.

And brother, do not apologise. The greatest service you can do for all of us is to maintain your own safety. Keep your minders close. (I do hope tying will not become necessary.)

Well, I have been thinking about it, and that's rather the problem, I suppose. I could be wrong, of course, because I'm certainly not infallible, but Lucifer ultimately fell because of his pride, wouldn't you agree? It doesn't quite seem like his style to slip in and burn some books (no matter how horrifying and tragic I find it, of course).

Anyway, that's my opinion about it all, which you can take or leave, of course, given my usual scatter-brained state.

I do believe that we'll be going to Stay with Thoth for a bit. I have a stack of books that I'd like to be certain remains safe, and he was kind enough to extend an invitation.

I have always maintained that the reasons behind the War were always contentious. Some fought out of jealousy of the creation of mankind, some fought for the love of themselves. To that end, I still believe that of all of us the fallen brothers stand to gain most from these events.

But your counsel means a great deal to me, Raziel. I will always take your opinion in to consideration. Stay with Thoth, stay safe. If perhaps he and his minders could see their way to ensuring Milton's Paradise Lost are transcribed again I would be much obliged.
