wikipedia pages wiped clean from the face of the internet...
ancient stained glass windows smashed and destroyed...
historical research centers burnt to the ground...

Someone out there is trying very, very hard to erase all of the possible sources of power and belief of the ancient gods and goddesses. And it hurts. Whilst the powers of the minders are unharmed by the attacks, the gods and goddesses will be certainly feeling the toll: it's now painfully clear that even the simplest of miracles are now becoming almost impossible to perform.

deities, you had better have gifted your minders with some decent blessings! Because now you're going to rely on them more than ever. Someone is out to get you.

[ Momentarily: ] Okay, no, I am officially taking you up on that offer.

[ She lifts her eyebrows. ]

That bad, huh?

ACTION.

[oppose]

[ Bluntly (and more matter-of-factly than anything else): ] He's being difficult.

ACTION.

[befallen]

Isn't that what they teach you to be in demon school?

ACTION.

[oppose]

"Demon school?" Is that what they teach you about in Sunday school?

[ OKAY, OKAY, POINT TAKEN. ]

I think we've reached a deal, though.

ACTION.

[befallen]

[ Esther gives a shrug. ] I wouldn't know, I wasn't paying attention at the time.

[ Her attention cants to Lucifer's phone. ] So, no field trip.

ACTION.

[oppose]

Possible field trip, but for us, not just you.

ACTION.

[befallen]

[ Game face is a go. ]

I don't mean to play 'let's wound the devil's pride' or anything. But last I checked, you weren't in the position to go anywhere.

ACTION.

[oppose]

[ Game face, met with apologetic face. ]

I know, [ he says, with a half-sigh. ] But in the event that the Morrigan agrees to see me face-to-face, I'd like to go. She knows something.

ACTION.

[befallen]

[ Esther thinks about this for a moment. ]

You want me to strongarm a god.

ACTION.

[oppose]

[ Lu shakes his head, glancing at his phone as another message pings to life. ]

No. She's invited us to see her – we can't betray that hospitality, not without causing further problems.

[ A beat, and he meets her gaze. ]

I'm going.

ACTION.

[befallen]

[ Lucifer meets his gaze and she meets it right back, staring at him for a long time, her eyes looking, searching for something. If he's determined enough, she knows she can't stop him and Esther understands what's at stake. For the gods, the angels, the demons. For Lucifer himself (and that's more important than all the rest put together as far as she's concerned).

Esther doesn't fight him. ]

We're going.

[oppose]

[ He loves her, for that. ]

Fair enough.

ACTION.

[ He is her closest friend, by far. And there's a reason for that.

Moving to stand, she places a hand on his shoulder and gives a light squeeze. ]

I'll grab the suitcases.
