OKAY so basically styx is NOT REALLY A GOD, but still an immortal since she's essentially 'the soul' of the river of hate in the underworld. she functions as the oathkeeper to the gods and even zeus himself is unwilling to break a vow sworn on styx. so as a result she's actually very highly respected by the gods even though she's not a god herself; and i think when she's got her shit together, she is a force to be reckoned with and taken very seriously. PROBLEM IS:
as a river, she served as the boundary between the world of the living and the dead which charon used to paddle folks over and, in crossing, she would revisit the self-torment and ire of a soul's life upon them. SO DESPITE BEING SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT SHE'S ASLO SORT OF MAD as in CRAZY since she's had millenia of having to deal with and doling out everybody's self-loathing for all that while. she herself was responsible for damning her lover Phlegethon to eternal torment (he now is the river of fire who burns mens souls) and so styx also is tasked with torturing HERSELF. so she's half there and on the ball and really a classy lady whose fun to be around and half the time sort of a shrieking weeping mess set on her own self-torment.
